Instant Karma!

Musicians have always taken stands and strides to make the world a better place, John Lennon especially was no exception. The working class hero always had something to protest about during his post-Beatles career that many felt he was more than a musician, he was someone that got more accomplished than any politician as far as raising awareness about certain issues such as Women's rights, Civil rights and of course the Vietnam war. Had Lennon lived today he would be proud of the seeds he planted is musicians such as Bono and many others who are coming together for Instant Karma!, a record of Lennon covers by some of today's biggest stars to raise money and awareness about the atrocities going on in Darfur, Sudan. "Buy a record, save a life," says Jeff Ayeroff, the CD's consultant and also a partner with Amnesty and Yoko Ono. "The idea is to raise consciousness and put money on the ground." The album will features songs by U2 performing "Instant Karma" ( I have herd this version done live December 7, 2005 at the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, CT...and U2's version is probably the best Lennon cover I have ever herd), "Working Class Hero" by Green Day , "#9 Dream" by REM, "Mother" by Christina Aguilera, "Power to the People" by the Black Eyed Peas, "Love" by The Cure, "Jealous Guy" by Yousou N'Dour, "Imagine" by Willie Nelson and "Real Love" by Regina Spektor. Give Peace a Chance" by interpreted by Aerosmith with Sierra Leone's Refugee All-Stars and by a Japanese ensemble with the idea of a modern "We Are the World." Tracks by Big & Rich and Jack Johnson also are due.
