Just before Pearl Jam formed, members Eddie Vedder, Stone Gassard, Mike McCready and Jeff Ament were in a band with Soundgarden front man Chris Cornell and drummer Matt Cameron (who would later join Pearl Jam in 1999) called Temple of the Dog. The band originally formed in Seattle in the late 80's as a tribute to late Mother Love Bone singer Andrew Wood. Last week at Pearl Jam's show in LA, Cornell came up on stage to perform the Temple of the Dog tracks "Hunger Strike," and "Reach Down." It was also a special night sparking more Soundgarden reunion rumors as Garden members Kim Thayil and Ben Shepard were in the audience to watch Cornell and Cameron's band.
