Sad news to start off this round of Quick News - former Alice in Chains bassist, Mike Starr has passed away. Starr was found dead in a home near Salt Lake City, no word as to what killed the bassist, some are speculating drugs since Starr had battled addiction for years. He was 44.
"Nine Inch Nails is not dead" Trent Reznor said in a statement after his post Oscar victory earlier this week. The megamind behind Nine Inch Nails and David Fincher's Social Network score, has listed what his forthcoming project will be. As we noted it will be scoring Fincher's Girl with the Dragon Tattoo films as well as scoring and starring in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Killer. Yet, his main focus, Nine Inch Nails and How to Destroy Angels will also be releasing music. He says on Nine Inch Nails message board - The three columns of things I'm currently funneling music into – [new band] How to Destroy Angels, NIN and film work – I believe will start to make more sense to you (and me) as everything unfolds," he wrote. "By having a few different outlets for my work I'm finding more inspiration within each one. No, Nine Inch Nails is not dead and I plan to focus on that next."
Spiritualized have signed to Fat Possum records and will release their latest record this fall. It will be J. Pierce and co's first album since 2008's epic Songs in A&E.
What could be one of the coolest concepts for a tour; Mumford and Sons, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero's and Old Crow Medicine Show will embark on the Railroad Revival Tour going from Oakland, California to New Orleans. The band will be traveling by train to a handful of cities in America and making stops playing venues and on the train along the way.
