On a small street that made major rock and roll history, British authorities in London unveiled a plaque on Tuesday on Heddon Street, 40 years after David Bowie stood on the spot for the cover of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Bowie was not present for the unveiling, but the plaque will remain forever, just as the album, as a benchmark for rock and roll history.
The Stone Roses have announced support acts for their reunion gigs in Heaton Park in England this summer. On Friday June 29: Primal Scream, The Wailers, The Vaccines, Kid British will support. On Saturday June 30: Beady Eye, The Wailers, Professor Green, Hollie Cook and on Sunday July 1: Plan B, The Wailers, The Justice Tonight Band (feat. Mick Jones, Pete Wylie & The Farm), Dirty North will lend their support. All three comeback gigs are sold-out.
File under - Weird and also, under the title - "Only the Flaming Lips," the Okalahoma indie legends will be releasing a special record for Record Store Day entitled, The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends, however, singer Wayne Coyne told MTV Hive that he will be collecting blood from all the collaborators on the record and will be sold in a very exclusive and expensive package. Coyne said, "What I'm going to try to do - and I'm collecting stuff for it as we speak - is I'm going to try to make a record that has every person's blood in the record." He has admitted that he has not gotten blood from everyone yet, but is trying. Collaborators on the project include; Bon Iver, Nick Cave, Ke$ha, Neon Indian and Erykah Badu.
