Maybe they were not The Clash, maybe they were not The Sex Pistols, maybe they were not The Ramones but X combined all the elements of punk and crafted one of the greatest debuts of all time. The Los Angeles band released their debut, Los Angeles in April of 1980 and while punk was in its prime, X gave the west coast a name and report. While LA hardcore and punk bands like The Germs and Dead Kennedys were first starting, X were the first punk band to break from LA and into the mainstream and their stellar debut was the vehicle that drove them there. Produced by Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek, X combined the distorted chords of The Ramones, thrash, and brutal energy yet, while the world remembers punk for the three bands mentioned above, X gave LA's scene a face.
