After releasing a brand new song this week, Atoms For Peace front man, Thom Yorke, spoke out about the supergroup's latest endeavor and their debut record. The band, which features Yorke, Radiohead producer Nigel Goodrich, Flea and drummer Joey Waronker, and percussionist Mauro Refosco, will release their debut next year. Yorke said in a statement, "You may have heard that I have a new project called Atoms for Peace. The name comes from some shows of The Eraser that happened a couple of years ago with Mauro, Joey, Nigel and Flea. We got a big buzz from them and discovered loads of energy from transforming the music from electronic to live, and so afterwards, we carried on for a few days in the studio and decided to make it a loose, on-going thing. Immersed in the area between the two… electronic and live."
Earlier this week, Dr. Daniel Baldi, who was late-Slipknot bassist Paul Gray's doctor, will now face charges of involuntary manslaughter for allegedly prescribing high amounts of painkillers to people who later died, including Gray. The band said in a statement, "As the loss of our brother Paul Gray is still very fresh for us in the Slipknot family, this new development has us all in a state of anger and sadness. The fact that this person took advantage of our brother’s illness while he was in a position to help others has outraged everyone in our family. We can only hope that justice will be served so this can never happen to anyone else ever again! Our thoughts go out to the families of the other victims. We plan to cooperate as much as we possibly can to ensure this tragedy is never repeated, and to make sure this man pays for what he has done."
Local Natives have confirmed they have been working with The National's Aaron Dessner for their new record. The California band will have their sophomore album ready for release next year.
Bouncing Souls front man, Greg Attonito and his wife, Shanti Wintergate, have formed a new band called Play Date. The duo will make children's music and are set to release their debut, Imagination, next month.
