Movie of the Month - Fantastic Mr. Fox
After he took us on a voyage on The Darjeeling Limited and before he took us to Moonrise Kingdom, Wes Anderson took us underground to the world of the Fantastic Mr. Fox. Anderson, who is usually known to make cartoon like characters out of his actors in his narrative films took to the world of stop-motion animation to create a vivid world of childlike wonderment and joy and tied it into a classic crime caper story. Featuring the voices of George Clooney as Mr. Fox, Meryl Streep as Mrs. Fox and Owen Wilson, Billy Murray, Willem Dafoe, Jason Schwartzmann, and an amazing cameo of a puppet Jarvis Cocker. The film is centered around Mr. Fox and his family, who are upstanding citizens in the animal community, Fox cannot resist going to his old thieving ways and stealing from the local farmers. After the famers catch onto Fox, he and his community are in jeopardy of becoming dinner for the famers. It is hilarious, charming, clever and most of all incredibly fun.
