Iconic indie label Sub Pop will be celebrating their Silver Jubilee in Seattle on July 13 to celebrate the labels 25 years. So far, Mudhoney, Greg Dulli, J Mascis, Father John Misty, Shabazz Palaces w/ THEESatisfaction, Pissed Jeans, Shearwater, the Baptist Generals, Brothers of the Sonic Cloth ft. Tad Doyle, and Endino's Earthworm, are confirmed to perform.
Mark Ronson, who is producing Paul McCartney's new album has dished to Rolling Stone what is inspiring Macca for his forthcoming record. Ronson Said, "With Paul, you learn to not ask too many questions and just do your best work. He came in one day playing some post-Bonde do Role baile funk-moombahton thing, asking, 'How do we get this kind of energy?' And then he played me 'Climax' by Usher, and he was like, 'I love where all the sonics sit in this.'" Ronson then gave an update on his next album and says it is more hip-hop influenced and said, "It's going to be closer to my first record than any I've made since. At the base, it's more hip-hop – just me in a room making beats on an MPC. I just really feel a little more like staking an identity again, making clear what I'm about. I'm 37 – I've got eight more years to make angry-youth music, so I just feel like doing that now."
Beady Eye have confirmed that their new album, Be, will be released in June. In a press statement, Liam Gallagher spoke about working with TV on the Radio's David Sitek about producing Be, he said, "Working with Sitek just opened something up in us. He’s without a doubt the best producer I’ve ever worked with, a real outlaw - he doesn’t give a fuck, no rules. We had a new found focus when we were writing it - we really got our heads down and got our shit together - clear heads, none of that crap from the '90s. It feels like a really special record for us." Sitek then spoke about working with the band and said, ""It’s a trippy record!" The strength of the tracks is so high that we got to really play around! It’s rock band instrumentation, but used in a different way. Liam’s vocals are incredible, all you have to do is turn on a microphone and you’re like, ‘That sounds like a record!’ You don’t have to do anything to them."
