Movie of the Month - The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

While summer beams its high heat and humidity on us, it is time for us to go under the sea and who better to do it with than with Bill Murray. In 2004, Murray stared in the lead role of Wes Anderson's comedy / drama The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, the film, which is part parody and inspired by the life of Jacque Cousteau took viewers on an adventure with eccentric oceanographer and documentarian, Zissou. The film which boasts an all-star cast featuring Owen Wilson, Angelica Houston, Willem Defoe, Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, tells the tale of Zissou in search of a rare sea creature called a "Jaguar Shark," but while he and is crew on searching for the creature, his relationships with his crew, family, and friends all come into play. Anderson who uses his creative eye and clever writing skills brings out the best in his actors as they venture to the deepest parts of the unknown sea and of human compassion. Paired with a soundtrack that features all Portuguese covers of classic David Bowie songs, this is one adventure you will want to take.
