As summer comes to an end and everyone sets off for the fall, one film captured the essence of this season like no other -- 2001's
In The Bedroom. The crime drama which boasts an all-star cast featuring
Tom Wilkinson, Sissy Spacek, Marissa Tomei, and
Nick Stahl. The film takes place in a small fishing village in Maine where Nick Stahl's character, the son of Wilkinson and Spacek, falls in love with a much older, married woman, Tomei. When her husband finds out about the affair, the film takes dark and sinister turns leaving everyone guilty or dead. The film, based off
Killings by
Andre Dubus, was a hit at Sundance and then went on to be nominated for a slew of Oscars, BAFTA and Golden Globe Awards, including a Globe win for Spacek. With a film of this cast and a story of this caliber, if it has never been seen, even 13 years later or has been seen, it will still give chills.
