This superlative and tradition began in 2011 when a little British artist made a lasting impact on us, that artist James Blake,
has gone on to release a handful of superb EP's, a magnificent
sophomore LP, won the Mercury Prize and was nominated for a Grammy.
Needless to say, we feel like we were correct in picking him and
starting this award with him.

This year's artist for us was a no brainer. It is someone who tore down the music world with his debut, has worked in the past with Thundercat and Flying Lotus and was featured on Kendrick Lamar's stunning LP, To Pimp a Butterfly.
Earlier this week, his debut, The Epic, was our League of Their Own pick by us and now we are proud to make Kamasi Washington 2015's Best New Artist.
Congrats to Mr. Washington, you clearly left your mark on the year and here is to an exciting new year and many more to come!
