Nick Broomfield explored the possibility that Cobain did not kill himself, but rather, was murdered. In the documentary,
Kurt & Courtney, Broomfield presents the idea and allegations that Courtney Love was behind her husband's death. Love has denied the theory countless times over the years. Broomfield explores the chaotic relationship between the two and the world that surrounded them. He also interviews friends and family of both singers, including Love's father, who alleges that his daughter was involved in her husband's death. Love did whatever she could to prevent the film from being released. However, it did open to 12 theaters across the country and had some success on DVD.
