Last year's Wu-Tang Clan album, A Better Tomorrow, was supposed to be the final record from the influential hip-hop group. Then, earlier this year, RZA said he was handing the reigns of a new Wu record over to Ghostface Killah. Now, speaking to HipHopDX, Ghostface elaborated on it: "RZA put the ball in my hand. He said 'Yo, I want you to do it,' and I been wanting to do it, and that’s a big test for me right there. It’s not what you do, it’s how you do it. But it has to be done right. If it don’t fit then we can’t do it. It'll just have to be done nice. That’s it. People can't talk about it unless it’s good."

New York Dolls member Johnny Thunders will be the subject of a new biopic based off the biography Johnny Thunders: In Cold Blood. The film, directed by Jonas Åkerlund will begin shooting next year.

Speaking at the listening party to their first album in 18 years, We Got If From Here... Thank You 4 Your Service, the surviving members of A Tribe Called Quest discussed how they came together to make the album. Q-Tip said: "We spoke about it at length, [Phife] and I, about the importance of maintaining the essence [of A Tribe Called Quest] but not getting trapped in that and trying to see it beyond. We would just listen to shit we liked —'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen, and then we would listen to 'Money Trees' by Kendrick, then we'd go to Rakim. It was a sonic exercise to hear all those different records and see the common thread." Busta Rhymes, who has worked with them in the past and appears on the album added: "Nobody don't sit in a room and write with each other no more. Everybody just send their little ProTools to each other, and you get the verse back in an email. When you write your verse, and you look at your man that's in the room with you, and he's reacting to his own bars that he's impressing himself with? You wanna go over there and hear what he's got to say. That was exactly what we did when we wrote 'Scenario.'"
