Movie of the Month: 'Rust & Bone'

In 2012, a film unlike any other came into theaters and seemed to fall on deaf ears with the masses. The film, Rust & Bone, details the story of a French woman (played by Marion Cotillard) who is a killer whale at a Sea World-esque amusement park and after an attack from the animal, she is left paralyzed. She eventually falls in love with an unemployed man who will do all he can to save her from depression, and the horrors of the world. While we are not one for sweeping, epic love stories, this was is pretty brutal and raw. As the story unfolds, we see how they augment their lives to comfort one another. The film was nominated for a BAFTA, SAGs, Golden Globe, and was an official selection at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. The film is now a timely topic as the death of Tillikum, the killer whale that killed a trainer at Sea World, passed away last month. Rust & Bone is a testament to the strength of love and admiration.
