VINTAGE CLIP: Metallica at 1991 Grammys
Due to technical difficulties with James Hetfield's microphone during Metallica's performance of "Moth to the Flame" with Lady Gaga, he had to improvise with the her mic. The Grammys have a long history of doing wrong by the metal giants. In 1991, the awards crafted the "Best Metal" category and Metallica were shoe-ins to win it thanks to the success of their Black album. They lost out to Jethro Tull and drummer Lars Ulrich later blasted the award show in a speech. That same ceremony, they performed "Enter Sandman," now take a look at the band in action -- with all mics on.
