Chance the Rapper donated $1 million to the Chicago public school system on Monday. "Our kids should not be held hostage because of political position. If the governor does not act, CPS will be forced to end school 13 days early, which means over 380,000 kids will not have adult supervised activities in June and could possibly be put in harm's way," Chance said. "While I'm frustrated and disappointed in the governor's inaction, that will not stop me from continuing to do all I can to support Chicago's most valued resources, its children."

Later this year, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds will release a career spanning box called Lovely Creatures – The Best Of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, set which features a compilation of their music, memorabilia, a hardcover book, live performances, a DVD, and essays. In a statement, Cave said: "There are some people out there who just don’t know where to start with The Bad Seeds. Others know the catalogue better than I do! This release is designed to be a way into three decades of music making. That’s a lot of songs. The songs we have chosen are the ones that have stuck around, for whatever reason. Some songs are those that demand to be played live. Others are lesser songs that are personal favourites of ours. Others are just too big and have too much history to leave out. And there are those that didn’t make it, poor things. They are the ones you must discover by yourselves."
In May, Kool Keith and Dan the Automator will release a box set of Dr. Octagon aka Kool Keith's alter-ego, first album, Dr. Octagonecologyst which will feature the album plus bonus tracks and unreleased material. In a press release, Dan said: "Dr. Octagonecologyst is a classic record for what it is, but it’s not a classic hip-hop record. I’m not actually sure if it’s considered a hip-hop record at all. We had to do a lot just to get that record out there. That in itself was a bit of a monumental achievement. I mean, we made a record that, ostensibly, there was no market for. A lot of weird people came out of the woodwork and loved it."
